Why Arizona Upgrade Academy?
Who? 5th –12th grade What? Small, Safe, Super-Learning. When? Fall 2008 Classes begin Thursday Aug. 7, 2008 (call now to secure a seat.) Where? 327 S. 15th Street, Cottonwood, AZ (928) 634-3722 Why? Springboard to lifelong accomplishment and confidence. How? Rigorus computerized curriculum
Small: (Last year we had 3 teachers and under 30 students) Safe: (In a school this size, not much goes unnoticed, and the principal also teaches.) Rigorous: (Lazy indolence is thwarted.)
Examples of the rigorous curriculum: 1. To master multiplication, students complete over 1,000 problems an hour. 2. Students stay on task for 90 minutes in creative writing. 3. Using a stopwatch, we read increasingly difficult passages orally at over 200 wpm. 4. We practice memorization skills used by national and world memory champions. 5. Students must sign that they are “Willing To Learn”, then keep their promise. Three signs
Parent Comments: “I didn’t know a school like this existed.” “He receives the help and support he needs”, “her self esteem has improved tremendously”, “rest assured my other children will also be attending Arizona Upgrade Academy”, “thank you for having such a wonderful school”, “Not only have I recommended your program to a number of our friends, but also in the future I will continue to refer others.” What’s it like to be a student?
Student Comments: “When you walk into the classroom, you feel welcomed and safe. You can just feel the difference.” “It’s not like any other school.” “It takes a while to get used to working that hard, but then it starts getting easy, and it’s totally worth it!” “Here, it’s all about the student.”
